Mystery Time for Broward County Library's 21st Annual StoryBook Festival

Free family event features stories, entertainment and more

Families with children of all ages are invited to the 21st Annual Storybook Festival, from 10AM to 4:30PM, Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Southwest Regional Library, 16835 Sheridan Street in Pembroke Pines, 33331, 954-357-6580.

StoryBook Festival provides a magical experience to encourage a love of reading and libraries through presentations by the finest storytellers and literature-based performance groups. Creativity and learning are nurtured through math and logic games, STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) activities and arts and crafts presented by the City of Pembroke Pines Parks and Recreation. Children are encouraged to come in costume.

The theme for this year is "Get a Clue: Once Upon a Mystery." Reading mysteries supports literacy goals, fosters a love of reading, develops critical thinking skills, promotes problem solving, tickles the mind, encourages concentration - and is fun!

Festival highlights include:

  • Big Book Giveaway: Free for first 1,000 children courtesy of Panera Bread
  • Stages of Shows: Indoor and outdoor performances
  • Entertainers: Storytellers, stilt walkers and musicians
  • Fantasy Forest: Follow a path in the Enchanted Forest and meet favorite characters
  • Arts & Craft Tent: Sponsored by the City of Pembroke Pines Parks and Recreation
  • Scavenger Hunt: Follow clues around the festival to enter a prize drawing
  • Face Painting: Artists create and design free of charge on little faces
  • STEAM Stations: STEAM zones, augmented reality station and math games presented by Math & Logic
  • Swappin' Ground: A special place where children tell a story and hear storytellers
  • Tiny Tots Zone: Early literacy play for little ones
  • Fire Lane: Meet fire fighters and tour fire truck from City of Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue
  • Costume Parade: Kids come in costume and march with costumed characters Pikachu, Despicable Me, Dora the Explorer, SpongeBob SquarePants and others

For adults, StoryBook Festival offers families a community showcase for Broward County Library programs and resources, as well an introduction to local non-profit agencies.
