THE 'INVEST IN KNOWLEDGE' CAMPAIGN LAUNCHES TO KEEP LIBRARY
SHELVES FULL
Dollars raised will buy new books and DVDs
Are the shelves at your local library looking a little emptier these days?
Due to tax cuts, Broward County Library's materials budget was reduced by $1.2 million, from $8.7 million to $7.5 million. Each year, the materials budget provides for the purchase of new circulating books, audio books, reference materials, magazines, online services, CDs and DVDs for children and adults.
To help offset these cuts, the Library's two support
organizations, the Friends of the Broward County Library, Inc.
and the Broward Public Library Foundation, are conducting a
joint fundraising campaign, known as Invest in Knowledge.
We're asking Broward residents to join with us to make sure
that, even in these difficult economic times, we have access
to all the materials we have come to expect from the ninth
largest library system in the country.
We welcome contributions of all sizes, and for a donation of
$35 or more, a bookplate will be placed in your honor in a new
book or other format purchased by the Library system. 100% of
donations received will be used to purchase library materials.
Both the Friends and Library Foundation believe in spending
time and money to help Broward County Library continue to be
among the most important resources in the community. Now you
too have the opportunity to be part of this effort.
